KUSU ISLAND PILGRIMAGE

October 14th, 2007 by kitloong

October, as in previous years, is the most challenging month of the workyear. Late nights, rising cortisol levels, ‘Roller coaster emotions’. You name it. In the last three weeks, I have done all that I could to minimise the stress of the next two weeks. But as my colleague aptly put it. There will always be two persons that will screw me up. Murphy and Disappointment. So I thought. "Why not seek some divine intervention?" Then, Kusu island came into the picture. Its the time of the year again where thousands of devotees flock for their annual pilgrimage to pray u know, the usual (Striking 4-D, good luck and so on.) I have never been to Kusu Island and glad that I did. Kusu island is a place where you either love it or hate it. Although the buzz of scrambling devotees irritated me a little at times, I felt a sense of tranquility and peace. Very relaxing. Cant explain it. I am sure Wilfred and Darius will agree with me too, right?

Caught up with a dear friend from Melbourne, Jonty this evening. Dont play play..He’s Dr Tan now, a cardiologist in training. I swear he got the best job ever. Work 7 days..Off for the next 7 days. There is a reason why Singaporeans will never find out the joy of living. We are too serious in everything and we work just too damn hard.

ART? OR IS IT?

August 19th, 2007 by kitloong

Some marvelled at the world record accomplished. Some called the feat a work of art. The aunties and uncles love it but I think they are more eager to find out if there are discounts for purchases of biscuits on premise. I am puzzled because the exhibit is nothing but a display of food wastage. Another meaningless promotion gimmick, I would say. World Record or not.

Braced up for another tough week ahead.

OLD FRIENDSHIP REKINDLED

There is nothing more heartwarming than a sight of a familiar face and a long conversation with a friend who spent a bulk of your childhood talking cock and playing ping pong with. Found Luque (bottom right) on friendster network recently just like how Kaifa (Top left) found me 5 years ago after I got back from Melbourne. 14 years. Has it been that long? Its a pity that the rest couldnt make it. Great sunday afternoon. One of my best for this year thus far.
