Bumper crop of Long weekends in 2006
Saturday, November 5th, 2005Kuala Lumpur Retreat
Friday, November 4th, 2005DAY ONE
My highly anticipated KL retreat began at 7.30am, Deepavali morning at Copthorne Hotel where I took a 5 hrs bus ride to KL city. The bus ride wasnt too bad. For $49, you get to ride in a double decker bus that comes with a lounge. Refreshments include honey mustard turkey sandwich, peach tea and coffee. Mostly importantly, plenty of leg room. The bus trip terminates at the Old railway station. There, I caught up with my 50 year old malaysian cousin who brought me to my 5 star hotel, The legend hotel in his 8 seater Nissan SUV. Again, plenty of leg room.
God bless my cousin, who is a gold member of the hotel. Ah Hah, I get 75% discount. That works out to be ard $50 plus a night. Really dirt cheap. Cheryl (I considered her to be one of my most cherished friends) was already there an hour earlier. After a greasely meal of roast goose and cold tofu, we head back to our hotel where we "Nuah" at the poolside for a gratifying hour.
Met up with Kenny, a bossom friend whom I knew since Trinity and his steady girlfriend for Dinner. Well Cheryl choose "Hooked", a fish and Co-ish concept restaurant who is owned by another Uni friend, Saw. Too bad, he wasnt ard in his resturant. Kenny later drove us back to his place in SS 16 where he treated us with his signature banana smoothie.
We finally end our night with a couple of drinks at our hotel bar, called " The Monkey Bar. Very "Ah Go Go". Cant say that I like the place but at least the drinks are cheap.

My very first purchase was this 7 litre mineral bottle. Tse Tse, Singaporeans..well guilty as charged.
A lookout from my hotel room on the thirteen floor.
Kenny flanked by a very satisfied Ken and Cheryl after having Kenny’s signature banana smoothies.

DAY TWO
The bulk of the day was spent hanging out with my BRC guys in Times square/ Bintang Walk area. Went shopping in places like Sunai Wang and Lot 10. Finally, the evening was concluded with a birthday treat from Cheryl and kenny in this fabulous restaurant, Kafe at Ceylon Hill. Everything about the place is excellent. The food, the wine, the ambience and not to mention the service. For those who enjoyed fine dining on a moderate budget, this is a place to die for.

Had the Langkawi soft shell crab servied with Thai green mango salad and the smoked salmon salad, drizzled with the ginger dill Mirin vinaigrette with avocado, semi dried tomato & wasabi mayo and pickled papaya. Must really try the lamb shanks here for the mains.
