COCKTAIL SERIES - #2 BLACK RUSSIAN

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

A bit lazy tonight to make a complicated drink.

Ingredients

15ml Kahlua, 30ml vodka, ice cubes as desired.

Pour the Kahlua and vodka over the ice cubes in a decent size old fashioned glass (I prefer the brandy glass). Wala! Black Russian. There is another variation drink using Tequila, called Brave Bull (a composite of 45ml Kahlua and 30ml Tequila).

BUFFET DINNER AT AQUAMARINE, MARINA MANDARIN HOTEL

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

Family decided to try out the buffet dinner spread at Aquamarine, Marina Mandarin Hotel. UOB cardholders promotion: 1 person free for every three paying adults at $49++ per head. The food is not bad although I think "The Line" at Shangrila Hotel is much better. However, the ambience is defintely a plus point for me to return back to the restaurant. My ratings for the restaurnat are as follows:

Ambience               8/10

Buffet                    7/10

Service                  7/10

Dinning Experince   7.5/10

Price                     Acceptable.

COCKTAIL SERIES - #1 CAIPRINHA

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

This is my first entry of my cocktail series, of which I will share my cocktail recipes. Caiprinha (pronounced "Kie-pee-REEN-Yah"), is a brazilian drink and defintely one of my favourites.

Ingredients

30 ml Cachaca (sugar cane based), 2 large limes sliced into mini wedges, 30 ml lime juice, 1 tsp of granulated brown sugar, 5 mint leaves, 4 ice cubes

Muddle the lime wedges, mint leaves and raw sugar in a non-breakable old fashioned glass. Add in the ice, alcohol and top it up with lime I prefer Australian limes rather than Malayisan limes, although the latter is much cheaper. Australian limes have more citrius oil in their skin :).Most books also advocate crushed ice but I prefer ice cubes as it doesnt dilute the drink..duh. Stir it gently and garnish if desired. Cheers.
